I’m Amy Lamorna Ireland, the founder of Lamorna Academy – an educator with over 11 years of experience as an English teacher with a master’s degree in education, specialising in creative writing. As a former Head & Deputy Head of English, I understand the importance of a strong narrative arc, nuanced character development, and language that not only engages but endures—leaving a lasting impression on both the heart and the mind. My passion lies in helping students unlock their creativity, refine their storytelling skills, and develop a deep appreciation for the written word.
As a published author, I understand the power of language and the importance of nurturing individual voices. Lamorna Academy is built on the belief that everyone has a story to tell, and my mission is to guide and inspire students on their journey to becoming confident, skilled writers.

Write to Build: Structuring Your Novel with Confidence

Write to Build is a full-day novel-writing workshop at Duchy Nursery focused on structure that supports creativity. Designed for writers at any stage, the day explores how to plan, shape, and strengthen a novel using practical, flexible frameworks.
Through clear teaching and hands-on exercises, you’ll gain tools to organise your ideas, improve pacing, and move your story forward with confidence. You’ll leave with a clearer plan for your novel and strategies you can return to throughout the writing process.
A delicious two-course lunch is included, with time to pause, reflect, and connect with fellow writers.

Words by the Water: A Descriptive Writing Morning at The Courtyard
