A Cornish Author, with a rich Cornish heritage

Amy Lamorna Ireland has taken inspiration from the beautiful county from a very young age. Whilst teaching English in a local secondary school, and being a dedicated wife and mother, Lamorna embarked on her published author journey back in 2020. She has since released three novels set in Cornwall: Unexpected Beginnings,  Unexpected Truths and Along a Cornish Creek. She is also a co-author of two successful Cornwall Writers anthologies: Cornwall: Secret & Hidden and Cornwall: Beneath & Beyond.

Plans are already in motion for a four-book series set against the dramatic backdrop of Cadgwith Cove, along with a heartwarming Christmas anthology that revisits beloved characters from her first three novels.

Lamorna continues to spend her free time adventuring around her beautiful home county, her feet firmly rooted to the place of her ancestors.

Unexpected Beginnings

Life has not been kind to Emily Miller. A past she can’t shake, a complicated medical condition and now the threat of eviction from her poky Brooklyn flat. Emily finds herself constantly backed into a corner. To top it all off, she’s being demoted from her loving position as Case Team Leader at Blake&Co Business Consultancy to being an assistant for her workplace crush, Mark Trengrouse. She soon finds there’s some benefit to this on a venture to London, but when she accidentally gives away Mark’s whereabouts to his somewhat estranged family, she suddenly finds herself on the move again, on an unexpected adventure to Cornwall. Trengrouse Cider Farm has crafted the finest Cornish cider for generations, but the death of the father has left the eldest son Tom Trengrouse fighting to keep it afloat. His festering anger to his brother’s betrayal leaves him bitter and isolated, and Mark’s unexpected return opens old wounds and new doors. Emily soon discovers that she’s not the only one with a dark past, and wounds to heal, and soon takes comfort in the warmth of their big hearts and the kitchen AGA. With a looming deadline waiting for her back in Brooklyn and a wedding day of dramas to contend with, Emily quickly realises she hadn’t known the meaning of complicated.

Unexpected Truths

Paige Yelland has done her very best to deny her Cornish roots for the past ten years, having run away from a past that she would rather forget. Taking on her late mother’s restaurant and unexpectedly cutting ties from her life in Bristol, Paige must finally give in and embrace a new life back in the little Cornish fishing village where she grew up – Mevagissey.
This is easier said than done. Made to feel unwelcome from the moment she returns to the village, it is clear that some people are less than impressed with Paige’s estrangement to the place, with the locals showing loyalty towards her parents that she has always struggled to understand.
Unexpected truths begin to reveal themselves in this fishing village romance as new relationships begin to bloom. Can Paige and her father Jacca find a way to let old ghosts lie? And can Paige set aside the resentment she felt for her mother all those years to see the heart of the village – Giuseppe’s restaurant – restored to its former glory once again?
