At Lamorna Academy, we’re all about getting imaginations buzzing and pens moving! I’m passionate about helping children discover the joy of reading and the magic of writing in a fun, relaxed environment. Whether your child is a reluctant writer or already filling notebooks with stories, there’s something here for everyone. I welcome children of all abilities—and celebrate every small win along the way.

Each week, we write short stories and poems inspired by a fun fortnightly theme. Children are introduced to a variety of writing styles—from classic tales and poetry, to exciting modern books they’ll love. We explore big ideas, silly thoughts, and wild adventures—then help get those ideas down on paper in a way that feels natural and enjoyable.

The Word Explorers: 7-11 year olds
60 minutes

For 7–11 year olds who love stories and imagination! Children will explore the magic of stories and develop their creativity while building key reading and writing skills to support SAT preparation. Each half term focuses on a new theme, with opportunities to share work, receive feedback, and enjoy writing in a friendly, small-group setting.

Designed for 11–15 year olds, this workshop combines creativity with focused writing support to build strong foundations for GCSE English success. Students develop key skills in reading comprehension, descriptive writing, and narrative technique, while gaining confidence through regular feedback and discussion in a friendly, small-group setting.
